The 'Star Trek: Picard' Series Finale Will Be Hitting IMAX

Paramount+ and CBS Studios have announced that Star Trek: Picard's final two episodes will be receiving theatrical screenings. But they aren't just any theatrical screenings. These are going to be in IMAX theaters.

Tomorrow, April 12, free tickets, yes that's free tickets will go on sale at 1 PM Eastern (10 AM Pacific) for screenings of Picard's penultimate and final episodes of the series "Võx" and "The Last Generation". The screenings will occur on April 19, one day before "The Last Generation" will be released on its home streamer. However, these screenings will only occur in ten participating IMAX theaters in nine cities. Those cities are Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Orlando, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

"Võx" is written by Sean Tretter and Kiley Rossetter and directed by season three showrunner Terry Matalas, who is also writing and directing the finale "The Last Generation". These screenings include a special final season poster giveaway and... themed? concessions for those who attend. They will also be treated to a live cast Q&A featuring series and season stars Patrick Stewart, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Brent Spiner, and Jeri Ryan, along with Matalas and executive producer and modern Trek shepherd Alex Kurtzman. Michelle Hurd and Marina Sirtis are notably absent, while Ed Speleers, who is one of the listed series regulars this season (only Stewart, Ryan and Hurd are the others) seems to not fit the goal of the panel, being both the goodbye to the The Next Generation crew after 35 years, as well as to Picard with the two other actors whose character isn't the title but still starred in all three seasons. The panel will be held in person at the Los Angeles screening while being broadcast to the rest of the IMAX theater locations.

For season three, Kurtzman, Matalas, Stewart, Akiva Goldsman, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski, and Dylan Massin all serve as executive producers. The series finale of Star Trek: Picard will air on Paramount+ for everyone on April 20. While this show ends, there are four other Star Trek series still in production, while the next series in the production line, Starfleet Academy, was recently ordered.
