'September 5' Covers Its Streaming Date

Have a few Munich knacks. Paramount announced on Monday morning that Best Original Screenplay Oscar and Critics Choice nominee September 5 is headed to Paramount+ tomorrow, Tuesday February 25 in the United States and Canada. International rollout will, as usual, be revealed at a later date, but it never quite gets the coverage the domestic arrival to the platform does. The film was first given a limited release on December 13, and considering Sony Pictures ’s Saturday Night ’s limited release on September 27 was what brought it to Sony’s typical 120-day window for its films when it landed on Netflix on January 25 despite a wide release on October 11, it’s clearly the best way to gauge speed. And for Paramount’s 2024 slate, it’s actually a pretty slow 74 days, as even Sonic the Hedgehog 3 demonstrated a week ago that everyone else tends to be around 60 days, with a few films going 53. Sonic 3  opened a week later on December 20 and arrived on February 18. September 5 ...

'The Thundermans Return' Has Wrapped Filming

The Thundermans Return, the reunion movie for the 2013-2018 Nickelodeon superhero sitcom The Thundermans has wrapped after about a month of filming.

Series stars Kira Kosarin and Jack Griffo, who play twins Phoebe and Max Thunderman and are executive producers of the movie, have done a lot to chronicle the production with numerous photos and videos across their socials, including YouTube. Not to undersell how much Rosa Blasi, who plays mom Barb Thunderman, has done as well.

In addition, it’s been announced that Harvey Guillén, whose star power skyrocketed since the show’s end and his casting in FX’s What We Do In The Shadows series, will be reprising his role as cousin Blobbin in the film. He appeared in 8 episodes across the original series’s 4-season and 98-episode run, debuting in season 1’s “Weekend Guest”, and last appearing in season 4’s “Z’s All That”. Blobbin, also a superhero, had inherited his father’s wealth in his first appearance and had a time machine in another. When the film was announced in early March, there were promises of “show favorites, new villains and familiar locations”. Even this recurring character is a good start, well beyond the closer recurring characters the show had.

The Thundermans Return also stars Addison Riecke as Nora, Diego Velazquez as Billy, Maya Le Clark as youngest child Chloe, and Chris Tallman as dad Hank. The film’s plot centers around the superpowered family beginning a new era of superhero crime fighting. However, this suffers an apparent setback as a failed mission sends them back to Hiddenville. Hank and Barb enjoy their return, with Billy and Nora looking forward to a normal high school experience, but Max and Phoebe are eager to get back their superhero status. Series creator and executive producer Jed Spingarn fills those roles again for The Thundermans Return, while also writing the script. Trevor Kirschner, who previously directed episodes of the series, is the film’s director as well. The other executive producers are Dan Cross and David Hoge.

Guillén can be heard starring as Perrito in Puss In Boots: The Last Wish, Damian Wayne on Harley Quinn, and Funny the Funhouse on Mickey Mouse Funhouse. On the big screen he will next be seen in Blue Beetle in a still yet-to-be-revealed role and just joined an all-Latino reimagination of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day for Disney+. The Thundermans Return has no premiere date but is likeliest headed to Paramount+, if not a more layered release strategy. The Thundermans is currently streaming on the service as well.
