Paramount+ Australia has greenlit a second season of hit crime drama series Last King of The Cross. It will consist of eight sixty-minute episodes. The series inspired by John Ibrahim’s autobiography, telling his story as a poverty-stricken immigrant in Sydney's lavish Kings Cross district in the late 1980s and 1990s. He is without education, money, or people around him to believe he can be successful. It's his journey in becoming Australia’s most infamous nightclub mogul.
Season 2 sees Ibrahim in the ecstasy-fueled 2000s as expands his empire into the booming queer nightclub business. The stakes are bigger and everyone wants a piece, including John’s two younger brothers. Ibrahim is played by Lincoln Younes, who was nominated for a Logie, an Australian television award, for his work in the role.
The series also stars Tim Roth as Ezra Shipman. Roth is familiar to American audiences for starring in the Fox series Lie To Me, which ran for two seasons, his work with Quentin Tarantino in Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and The Hateful Eight, and his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Emil Blonsky aka Abomination in The Incredible Hulk, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Matt Nable, who plays "Big Tony" Stone, was the Arrowverse's Ra's al Ghul, primarily appearing in the third season of Arrow but also an episode of Legends of Tomorrow.
Daniel Monaghan, senior vice president content and programming for Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said: "Australian audiences love local stories and content, which is why Last King of The Cross was the most-watched local series. We're thrilled to bring viewers the next instalment of this gripping story. It is titles like this that make us proud to have our local commissions with universal themes, compelling, propulsive storylines, world class Australian talent and high-quality production values, contribute to Paramount+'s mountain of exclusive content, on an international scale."
Last King of The Cross premiered its first season with two episodes on February 17 and ran for ten total episodes until April 14. It is not available on the United States version of Paramount+ however.
