'The Thundermans Return' Goes Long-Term With New Series Starring Phoebe, Max, And Chloe

  The Thundermans   are staying in production living a double life. Fresh off the apparent success of the reunion movie  The Thundermans Return , the  Nickelodeon  superhero franchise is expanding again with a new series greenlight from Nickelodeon Studios, coming to both Nickelodeon and  Paramount+ . The new series, which hasn’t had its title revealed, will follow  Kira Kosarin  as Phoebe and Jack Griffo as Max Thunderman who are sent undercover to handle a new threat in the seaside town of Secret Shores and bring Chloe, played once again by Maya Le Clark, along to train her in superheroing. It seems Chloe will infiltrate the school the threat seems to be coming from, and she forms a bond with two classmates while they investigate the suspicious activity from within, and her new friends don’t know about her powers. Showtime Invites You To Graduation In 'The Chi' Season 6 Trailer

It's a high time for education in the lives of Kevin, Jake and Papa as they exit high school, but it seems Emmett's still got a lot to learn in the upcoming sixth season of The Chi. Showtime released the official trailer on Tuesday.

The trailer shares glimpses of the characters', played by Alex Hibbert, Michael V. Epps, Shamon Brown Jr., teen milestones like prom and graduation as Emmett, played by Jacob Latimore, boasts to wife Kiesha, played by Birgundi Baker about how much good Douda (Curtiss Cook) 's investment in him is for them, and that he's keeping all his promises. She's skeptical, shaking her head at him, knowing it's too good to be true. Sure enough, Douda is pressing a gun into Emmett’s hand and the young restaurateur's enthusiasm about the partnership seems to nosedive despite ambitious and insatiable expansion dreams for Smokey's. As for what else the season will bring for the teens, Kevin is honing his gaming skills but struggles with the youthful pitfalls of early independence. Jake is starting his own business, and Papa begins to question his faith while falling for an older woman.

Elsewhere, the season's logline tells of other big dreams finally being realized but at a cost. Everyone will face immense challenge and face the risks and rewards of their decisions.  Kiesha does reach her own new career heights. Douda himself is dealing with the aftermath of Q’s murder and the triggering of shifting loyalties among his friends. Victor’s (Luke James) bold declaration of love for both his new girlfriend and his beloved community will impact his political ambitions. Jada (Yolonda Ross) is now happily married as she continues mentoring Emmett and her best friends as they manage their relationships.

The Chi's sixth season premieres early on Paramount+ with Showtime and on demand on August 4, before its linear premiere at 9 PM Sunday, August 6, on Showtime. The 16-episode season will air in two well-separated 8-episode halves. Brown Jr.'s movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, opens in theaters on August 2, so it's a busy work weekend which he won't be able to promote due to the SAG-AFTRA strike that is not likely to be resolved any time soon, let alone in time for such allowances.
