Paramount TV Everywhere Apps Have Begun Closing

The walls of digital TV are closing. The TV Everywhere apps for Paramount Global networks Comedy CentralMTVNickelodeonNick Jr., and Paramount Network have all announced imminent closure. The Nick Jr. app is starting to become unsearchable in certain app stores, as they’re all set to close on January 31.

TV Everywhere apps allow users to watch full episodes for free through their pay-TV subscription on their other devices and setups like smart TVs.This isn’t even the start of the change either, as Showtime discontinued Showtime Anytime on December 14. Each message urged watching on the channel’s own website, through TV provider or Paramount+, where many seasons of the respective libraries are available. The one on the Nickelodeon app for example has “On January 31, the Nick App is no more! We're saying goodbye to the Nick App. Don't worry - you can watch Nickelodeon anytime through your TV provider or on Nick.com. You can also find many Nick movies, shows and more on Paramount+." Nickelodeon’s in particular (and probably extends to Nick Jr.) was launched in 2013, and included short-form videos including comedic sketches and behind-the-scenes clips. Photos from network stars, whether live action or animated, as well as polls and games were also available.

Some titles available on the Comedy Central app that haven’t made it to Paramount+ include @midnight, as the 2017 episodes are available there, Dog Bites ManDoing the Most with Phoebe Robinson, LoafyJon Benjamin Has A Van, The Lounge, Biatches and Blark and Son, but they’re all probably staying on the website in the immediate future. Some The Daily Show with Trevor Noah episodes from across his run are also here, as a very small selection remained on Paramount+ from his last year after most of it was purged post-departure. Prior to, it seemed like his entire run was there. The digital originals could possibly also be found on YouTube. Their message laments with “Oh burgers!” before detailing the alternatives.

The official message on the Nick App's app page reads:

The Nick App Is Going Away!

Soon, the Nick App will no longer be available. Looking for games? We’ve got ‘em on Nick.com! Looking for full episodes? You can watch Nickelodeon anytime through your TV provider or on Nick.com. You can also find many Nickelodeon movies, shows and more on Paramount+.
