'Tales Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Teaser Trailer Released Early Following Leaks

One can only hope that when Paramount woke up in the morning and looked at their phone this morning to find that the teaser trailer for the next Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, had leaked all over Twitter, that they took a deep breath before screaming “What’s going on?”.

Indeed, the trailer for the series follow-up to last summer’s acclaimed hit film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was out unofficially for eight hours before being released in defeat on the Paramount+ and Nicktoons YouTube channels. On Instagram, the franchise account teased “tomorrow we’re serving up a surprise…” two hours after the leak, and when they posted the teaser revealed that tomorrow’s release was supposed to be in conjunction with World Pizza Day, as they began the caption with “celebrating World Pizza Day a little early🤭”. The Twitter counterpart had “your delivery is here! and a little early 👀🍕” While it wasn’t something as big as a full season leak, it was still significant enough to so visibly disrupt plans.

For the first time, the Turtles on the big screen are the turtles on the small screen as Tales continues the stories of the film iteration, as the synopsis describes “From the universe of the Mutant Mayhem film, the all-new Paramount+ original series explores the adventures of everyone’s favorite pizza-loving heroes as they emerge from the sewers onto the streets of NYC. Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey are faced with new threats and team up with old allies to survive both teenage life and villains lurking in the shadows of the Big Apple.” Indeed, as the film ended with Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael able to roam New York City as accepted heroes, living a high school life on the surface. The teaser shows a lot of “suiting up” per se, as they’re confronted by robots of some kind, including a bathroom.

Not only have the Turtles’ voices from the film been confirmed to reprise their roles, Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, and Brady Noon as Raphael, but Ayo Edebiri has been confirmed to be returning as her April O’Neil. More casting will be announced later. Already the 2D animation style that the film has been translated into has drawn favorable comparison to the previous TV series iteration, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. From Nickelodeon Animation and Point Grey Pictures, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is executive produced and showrun by Secret Headquarters and Thor: Ragnarok co-writer Chris Yost and Alan Wan, who comes from both preceding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series. Lukas Williams will be overseeing. Production is overseen for Nickelodeon by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President of Big Kids Animation, and Nikki Price, Director of Development and Executive in Charge of Production.

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles premieres this summer on Paramount+. Two seasons were ordered, but it’s unclear whether both serve as a bridge to the Mutant Mayhem sequel or one will come after. Season lengths are also unknown.
