Nickelodeon Has Ordered A 'The Thundermans' Reunion Movie, And It's Probably Coming to Paramount+

What you've seen is more of what you'll get. Nickelodeon Studios has greenlit The Thundermans Return, a follow-up film to Nickelodeon's hit superhero sitcom The Thundermans, which ran for four seasons and 98 episodes from 2013 until 2018.

The entire main cast is set to return for the film, that being Kira Kosarin as Phoebe, Jack Griffo as twin brother Max, Addison Riecke as Nora, Diego Velazquez as Billy, Maya Le Clark as youngest child Chloe, Chris Tallman as dad Hank and Rosa Blasi as mom Barb. Kosarin and Griffo are also two of the executive producers. The film will see the superpowered family begin a new era of superhero crimefighting that suffers an apparent setback as a failed mission sends them back to Hiddenville. Hank and Barb enjoy their return, with Billy and Nora looking forward to a normal high school experience, Max and Phoebe are eager to get back their superhero status.

As for the show's supporting cast, like supervillain-turned-rabbit (and cycled back again) Dr. Colosso and his son Balfour (played by Dana Snyder and Joey Bragg), Nickelodeon promises show favorites, new villains and familiar locations. Series creator and executive producer Jed Spingarn will not only fill those roles for The Thundermans Return, while also writing the script. Trevor Kirschner, who previously directed episodes of the series, will be directing the film. The other executive producers will be Dan Cross and David Hoge.

While both TVLine and Deadline were not clear what kind of release the film would be getting, Nickelodeon did release a teaser (made up entirely of series footage) on their Instagram page that was a collab post with Paramount+, which seems to indicate it will head there instead of theaters. Of course, this leaves open the possibility that it is more a TV movie, getting a same-day airing on Nickelodeon like Monster High: The Movie and the Snow Day remake did. It is the latest sitcom from the network to get some sort of follow-up intended for the streamer. with the iCarly sequel series going into its third season, and a Zoey 101 revival movie coming this year that just wrapped filming. There's also a film for the network's bigger superhero franchise, Henry Danger, that was announced to be in development last January with star Jace Norman similarly producing, However there have been no further updates.
