'Happy Face' Brings In The Kids And A Recurring David Harewood

The upcoming Paramount+ drama series Happy Face has found all of its series regulars and jonesed for its recurring talk show host and Melissa’s boss. The final series regulars found are  Khiyla Aynne   and Benjamin Mackey, while Supergirl alum David Harewood is racking in the ratings. As one could surmise, Aynne and Mackey play Melissa (played by Annaleigh Ashford )’s kids with husband Ben, played by James Wolk . Specifically, Aynne  plays Hazel, their  secure and happy  15-year-old daughter who initially believes that her mother is off on a simple business trip. However,  she soon starts suspecting that something dire is going on, beginning to investigate and uncover the shocking circumstances of her mother’s past.  Mackey plays  lively   9-year-old Max, who takes his stable upbringing for granted and doesn’t grow his older sister’s suspicions regarding mom’s sudden absence. He instead steadfastly believes she’s producing some sort of on-location segment for  The Dr. Greg Show . A

Which 'TMNT: Mutant Mayhem' Villains Will Receive Paramount+ Spinoff Films?

Turtlemania has officially commenced and I for one cannot be more excited to see what this next foray into the animated world of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brings us with the upcoming feature film 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem' and subsequent series of "villain-driven" animated films exclusively set for streaming release on Paramount+!

Little is currently known about these series of villain spinoff films at this point, however we do know which of the Turtles foes are set to appear in 'TMNT: Mutant Mayhem' and can surmise what seems to be most likely, in my personal opinion.

The following villains are set to appear in 'TMNT: Mutant Mayhem':

Bebop and Rocksteady - Mutant Warthog and Mutant Rhinoceros

Being the only main antagonists shown in the teaser trailer released today, I would say that this one is practically assured. Bebop and Rocksteady are FAN-FAVORITES and seeing these two lead a villain-driven film would be like a love-letter to the fans. The hijinks these two would ensue in a full length film would be unthinkably entertaining and could usher in a slew of new fans to the property, young and old alike. (Not to mention the merchandise sales)

Baxter Stockman - Mutant Fly

Having recently appeared in the animated film 'Batman vs TMNT', amongst other media, such as the videogame 'TMNT: Shredder's Revenge' and as Baxter Stockboy in the animated series 'Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Baxter has definitely had some time in the shine as of late but a solo film focused on the mad scientist would push the character into the spotlight and I believe the ride the film would take audiences on would be one for the books.

Wingnut - Mutant Bat/Alien

A mutant bat with metal wings, that's usually portrayed as a spoof of Batman and has a little alien partner named Screwloose (that may or may not appear in the films) sounds like an absolute riot of a time already. He is either depicted as an ally or foe to the TMNT, depending on the version, and that is why I'm not as sure we'll see a whole film focused on just Wingnut. Previously only depicted as a male, the character will be played by a woman and will presumably be female this time around, so that also brings with it a fresh take.

Genghis Frog - Mutant Frog

With the interesting weapon of choice in the animated series, a battle axe, comes one of the four frogs mutated and trained by Shredder to defeat the TMNT. A whole movie about just Genghis Frog seems a tad unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised to see one focused on all four of the Punk Frog's story. Raised to believe the turtles were evil, shown compassion by Splinter and eventually double crossing Shredder, the Punk Frog clan has seen it all. Who knows if we'll see any of this in the upcoming movie, but I would love to because they and their jouney sound very fun to watch.

Leatherhead - Mutant Alligator/Crocodile

Raised by a caring child before being flushed by disapproving parents into the sewers where villain species The Kraang found him, brought him to Dimension X and performed horrifying experiments on him, you can't exactly blame Leatherhead for turning out to be so cruel. However, The Kraang never broke his spirit and Leatherhead got his revenge in the end. After researching more about this character I knew little to none about and learning he actually has a gentle demeanor, aside from occasional bouts of rage at even hearing the word "Kraang" due to his horrific upbringing, I believe we could easily delve deeper into the character as  there's a lot to explore in those aspects of trauma, redemption and possibly forgiveness.

With Shredder most notably missing from the list, these will be the mutants causing all the mayhem on the big screen. Cynthia Utrom is another upcoming character listed but only the species of the character is currently known, which is of the Utroms, the creators of the Mutagen "ooze" that mutates serveral individuals throughout various Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle incarnations.

Any of these villains could potentially be paired with one another for these spinoffs, perhaps as a villain-group-driven spinoff film. With such a star-studded cast voicing all of the characters it is currently unknown whether or not we will see the same voice-actors reprise their roles for the Paramount+ movies.

We may receive more details regarding these spinoffs possibly before the release of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem' in theaters on August 4th, 2023, so be sure to check back here soon!
