'Happy Face' Brings In The Kids And A Recurring David Harewood

The upcoming Paramount+ drama series Happy Face has found all of its series regulars and jonesed for its recurring talk show host and Melissa’s boss. The final series regulars found are  Khiyla Aynne   and Benjamin Mackey, while Supergirl alum David Harewood is racking in the ratings. As one could surmise, Aynne and Mackey play Melissa (played by Annaleigh Ashford )’s kids with husband Ben, played by James Wolk . Specifically, Aynne  plays Hazel, their  secure and happy  15-year-old daughter who initially believes that her mother is off on a simple business trip. However,  she soon starts suspecting that something dire is going on, beginning to investigate and uncover the shocking circumstances of her mother’s past.  Mackey plays  lively   9-year-old Max, who takes his stable upbringing for granted and doesn’t grow his older sister’s suspicions regarding mom’s sudden absence. He instead steadfastly believes she’s producing some sort of on-location segment for  The Dr. Greg Show . A

'Rugrats' Reboot Season 2 Premiere Date Announced; Watch the New Trailer!

Paramount+ on Thursday released a trailer for the second season of the Rugrats reboot, which came with key art and a rather imminent premiere date for the 13-episode first half. It’s coming Friday, April 14, at least in the U.S. and Canada. It will arrive in other territories such as the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil, Latin America, Italy, France, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland and Austria at a later date.

In this second season, Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, Angelica Pickles, Phil and Lil DeVille, and Susie Carmichael will embark on imaginative adventures in outer space, on the open seas, and through booby-trapped temples Kimi, voiced in this series by Charlet Chung, will also have an increased role this season after being introduced separately and essentially trading roles with Susie compared to the original series. The series continues to star E,G. Daily as Tommy, Nancy Cartwright as Chuckie, Kath Soucie as Phil and Lil, Cheryl Chase as Angelica and Cree Summer as Susie, not only all reprising from the original series but were the voices of the characters when last depicted before the reboot.

The adults on the other hand, were all recast: Stu and Didi Pickles are voiced by Tommy Dewey and Ashley Rae Spillers, Tony Hale is Chuckie’s dad Chas Finster; Natalie Morales is Betty DeVille; Anna Chlumsky and Timothy Simons are Charlotte and Drew Pickles; Nicole Byer and Omar Miller are Lucy and Randy Carmichael; Michael McKean is Grandpa Lou, and Grey Griffin is Begley, introduced in this iteration. Returning guest stars this season are Henry Winkler and Swoosie Kurtz as Didi’s parents Boris and Minka, Telma Hopkins as Celeste, a friend of Lou’s, Raini Rodriguez as Betty’s niece and Rugrat babysitter Gabi, Keith Carradine as Lou’s best friend Bob Brine and Richard Ayoade as the voice of the Alexa-equivalent device AI Duffy.

New season 2 guest characters include Yvette Nicole Brown as the friendly and silly Miss Mellie, a tour guide at re-created Old West town Tot Springs; Sarah Niles as Angelica’s proficient and encouraging robotic Nanny Pip; and Alia Shawkat as Trish, Betty’s new girlfriend, eager to make friends with everyone. We will also meet Judith, Charlotte’s mother and therefore Angelica’s maternal grandmother, described as glamorous yet often condescending, and is fittingly voiced by Wendie Malick of Just Shoot Me and The Owl House.

Now while what Boris and Minka will be doing hasn’t been disclosed, there is some idea of an impetus. Because if the premiere of the reboot marked the franchise’s 30th anniversary, season 2 will seemingly mark the 25th anniversary of The Rugrats Movie, as indeed, Tommy’s brother Dil will be introduced to this continuity. Tara Strong will be reprising the role. And it seems when Tommy hears “big brother”, he’s going to be quite a bit more receptive, even if he imagines it a little too literally.
