'Billions' Confirmed To End With Season 7; Gets Early Start On Paramount+ With Showtime

After having been believed to be the case for several months, Showtime has made it official: Billions is ending after its seventh season, and that seventh season will begin this August.

On Friday August 11, the season premiere will stream first on Paramount+ with Showtime before its linear debut on Sunday, August 13 at 8 PM on Showtime. The 12-episode season will then roll out weekly from there, but the early releases seemingly start and end with the season premiere.

The season's logline reads: In Season 7, alliances are turned on their heads. Old wounds are weaponized. Loyalties are tested. Betrayal takes on epic proportions. Enemies become wary friends. And Bobby Axelrod returns, as the stakes grow from Wall Street to the world.

Billions's cast includes Paul Giamatti as Chuck Rhoades, Corey Stoll, Asia Kate Dillon, Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kelly AuCoin, and Jeffrey DeMunn. Damian Lewis starred as Bobby Axelrod through the show’s first five seasons and will return for six Season 7 episodes. When the series began, it followed Axelrod as he accumulated wealth and power in the world of high finance with aggressive tactics that frequently garnered the attention of United States Attorney Rhoades, The series was created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. Koppelman and Levien serve as executive producers and co-showrunners, while Beth Schacter also serves as co-showrunner and executive producer.

While Billions is ending and the Showtime linear channel is also becoming Paramount+ with Showtime, the programming strategy means the series is about to sprout a franchise, as Koppelman, Levien, and Paul Schiff are developing a multitude of spinoffs including Billions: Miami, Billions: London, Millions, and TrillionsBillions has deftly explored power, money, and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian [Koppelman] and David [Levien],” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. He hyped the final season as "packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love", and is excited to grow the franchise with the creators.
