'Star Trek: Prodigy' Season 1's Back Half Is Headed Home

Save Prodigy, everyone. Save Prodigy. When Paramount+ abruptly abandoned Star Trek: Prodigy along with several other original series at the end of June, reversing its renewal and forcing it to be shopped to other outlets, outraged fans were unabashedly pointing out that only the first half of Prodigy's first season was available elsewhere. Today, Star Trek announced that season 1, episodes 11 to 20 will be getting physical and digital releases. And that starts with the digital release today, July 21.

These 10 episodes are currently available digitally priced at $19.99 in high definition and $14.99 in standard definition. They will be released on Blu-ray and DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment and CBS Home Entertainment on September 26, 2023 with 2 discs and three featurettes with over 45 minutes of brand-new bonus content. It includes exclusive interviews and collectible character cards only available on the physical releases. If you need a refresher, the encompassing episodes are "Asylum", "Let Sleeping Borg Lie", "All the World's a Stage", "Crossroads", "Masquerade", "Prelude", "Ghost in the Machine", "Mindwalk", and the two-part season finale "Supernova".

Star Trek: Prodigy: Season 1, Episodes 11-20

The featurettes are: "The Odyssey of Prodigy", a review of the second half of the season with the director, producers and cast, "Producing Prodigy: The Planets", which explores creating the series' different worlds and how the design, music, writing and show elements coalesce to create such essential environments to the story. The third and final featurette is a second "Producing Prodigy", Ships, which covers the evolution of ship design in Star Trek and how its rich heritage influences the design of the U.S.S. Protostar and the Borg ship. The collector character cards are of Murf, Jankom-Pog, Zero and Drednok. There are also highlights about the U.S.S. Protostar and The Borg and definitions of Universal Translator and the Neutral Zone.

The United Kingdom and Germany will receive complete season releases on September 25 and October 5 respectively. While the titling is likely due to consistency with the releases for the first ten episodes, it does give that little spark of hope that season 2 will be seen, and maybe beyond. Also, Star Trek's availability blurb for Prodigy still mentions Paramount+, so unfortunately they should probably update that.
