Showtime Announces 'Heist 88' Premiere Date And Gives First Look

Heist 88, the crime drama film starring 61st Street's Courtney B. Vance that switched its branding from Paramount+ to Showtime in April, has set its premiere dates.

It was announced Monday that the film will debut on Paramount+ with Showtime on September 29 before its linear debut on Showtime on October 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It's almost like Paramount+ losing it to Showtime meant little for location when the premium channel's streamer was being integrated in June. All it meant was that lower-tier Paramount+ subscribers just won't have access, which is arguably worse. The first image for the film has also been released and can be viewed below.

Inspired by one of the largest bank robberies in U.S. history, Heist 88 is set in 1988, at a time before widespread computerization and the cybersecurity protections of today. The plot centers on Jeremy Horne, played by Vance, a criminal mastermind who decides on one last job before he begins his prison sentence. He enlists four young bankers to rob nearly $80 million dollars through a sophisticated exploit of the banking wire system. It's directed by Menhaj Huda and written by Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, and co-stars Keith David, Keesha Sharp, Xavier Clyde, Bentley Green, Nican Robinson and Precious Way.

The film is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, with the representing executive producers being Amal Baggar, Mychael Chinn, and Donny Hugo Herran, Bassett Vance Productions, with them being represented by Vance, his wife Angela Bassett, Lynnette Ramirez and Dwayne Johnson-Cochran, and Gunpowder & Sky, with their executive producers being Van Toffler and Barry Barclay. Carlos Lugo serves as executive in charge of production.

Heist 88 was supposed to rev up the channel's original movie output again following on from Ray Donovan: The Movie. Considering they have since dropped Seasoned from their slate after ordering six episodes they announced when getting Heist 88, it remains to be seen if the film will forerun anything.
