'Good Burger 2' Thanksgiving Premiere Confirmed On National Cheeseburger Day

On National Cheeseburger Day, Paramount+ has officially set up a Good Burger as part of your Thanksgiving meal. The streamer publicly confirmed a Wednesday, November 22, 2023 premiere date for Good Burger 2, starring Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Unfortunately, that initial premiere date doesn’t have as much a reach as most other of Paramount+’s output, as the 22nd is only for the United States and Canada, while the territories having their release for the film the next day, Thursday, November 23, 2023, are only the United Kingdom and Australia, though the film will also be available in more of the streamer's markets internationally shortly after.

Frankly this isn’t too much of a surprise, as back when the film was first announced in March, or at least the weekend after the The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon appearance where the announcement happened, Thompson was already telling the crowds at 90s Con in Connecticut about a Thanksgiving release, which lands on November 23 this year. The streamer had the November 22 date pegged at least since early August.

The classic combo is back. Dexter Reed is down on his luck after another one of his inventions fails. Ed helps him by bringing him back to Good Burger, where Ed now has a long-changed group of co-workers. While there, Dex devises a plan to get back on his feet that puts the fate of Good Burger at risk once again. The cast also features Jillian Bell as Megacorp CEO Katt Boswell, Lil Rel Howery as MegaCorp's lawyer Cecil McNevin, Alex R. Hibbert as Ed2, Ed's mini-me son and the restaurant's newest trainee Kamaia Fairburn as the cool and confident Mia, who works there to support her mother, Fabrizio Guido as Mr. Jensen, who struggles to keep the employees in line, and twins Elizabeth and Emily Hinkler as cooks Cindy and Mindy. Anabel Graetz's Ruth is the most senior staff member.

Good Burger 2 will also feature returns from the original film such as Josh Server as ex-Good Burger co-worker Fizz, and Carmen Electra as Roxanne, who was a Mondo Burger plant at that time. Lori Beth Denberg is also returning for this film, however it's unknown if she's bringing back Connie Muldoon, the character that originated on All That in the original Good Burger sketches and appeared as her small role in the film. It could be she’s playing a new character, but it’s equally unknown whether her role, whether Connie or new, will be bigger than her part in the first film. When all these castings were originally announced in June, Paramount+ and Nickelodeon Studios teased that additional celebrity cameo announcements were still on the horizon, however none have come about since. More time elapsed from then to now than it will from now to premiere. The Screen Actors Guild strike began about two weeks after the casting was announced, but I don’t have anything concrete as to it affecting such.

Good Burger 2 is directed by Phil Traill, who directed 25 episodes of The Middle, as well as episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Single Drunk Female, and written and executive produced by the writers of the original film, Kevin Kopelow & Heath Seifert, who were also major writers on All That, with additional writing from James III, who wrote with them on season 11.
