An Update on the 𝕏 Situation

I really don’t know what to do at this point.

If you haven’t already seen it by now, our 𝕏 (Twitter) handle @whatsonpplus, which we’ve been using since 2022, is now suspended after being locked since Thursday. The biggest L we have ever taken.

How did this happen? Why did this happen?

It started off Thursday night around 8. It locked us out and was asking us to change our name due to impersonation and their new Parody and Newsfeed policy. First off, we never intended this account to act as an official Paramount+ account. We only intended to report any news and update on the service. Paramount is aware and they are ok with it.

Secondly, we fall under the same orders as our friends at What’s on Netflix and What’s on Disney Plus. We have no spite on them whatsoever and they do a great job at reporting news and updates on their respective platforms. But wouldn’t this policy apply to them? Same goes for a lot of fan-run news accounts out there.

I tried several times to change the name to include “fan” and “not official”, but it kept failing to do so. Possibly due to getting Premium two day before. So I did like many would do, I filled an appeal. They responded the next day with “Your account will remain limited for the allotted time due to violations of the Twitter Rules (https://twitter.com/rules), specifically our rules around creating a parody, commentary, news, and fan account: https://support.twitter.com/articles/106373.” So I waited again yet again. But Sunday night, it was gone.

Suspended for no reason or any transparency whatsoever. So much for being decentralized…

Most of you might say, “FUCK ELON, LEAVE TWITTR 4EVER.” But the truth is, THATS NOT THAT FUCKING EASY TO DO.

We built majority of our audience on Twitter, now X, and relied on it that it’s hard to just leave the platform.

Sure we have our BlueSky account, but not everyone’s on it. Use Threads? Yeah, you’re crazy if you’re now thinking about going into a dwindling service. Reddit? The r/ParamountPlus subreddit is so toxic, so spiteful of the service, well, we might as well not go there. Discord? Yeah, there’s our Discord, but are you on it? Plus, it’s pretty inactive.

So what’s next you ask?

Please spread the words #JusticeForWhatsOnPPlus across X, please follow our old and now backup handle @PPlusNews, please join our Discord for updates, and PLEASE BOOKMARK OUR SITE FOR UPDATED PARAMOUNT+ NEWS.

I really don’t care how Elon does to his site. It’s his site, and it’s his rules. We literally paid a month of Premium just for the benefits he’s giving. But this is pure nonsense. Impersonation or not, Paramount would vouch for us as well. We are authentic and fall under the newsfeed policy.  And we will keep fighting.
