All's Affair In Love And War In 'Fellow Travelers' Trailer

Showtime has released the trailer for its upcoming eight-episode limited series, Fellow Travelers, starring Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey, premiering October 29.

The love story and political thriller that is Fellow Travelers is based on Thomas Mallon’s novel, adapted by Homeland and Ray Donovan alum Ron Nyswaner. It follows the relationship between Bailey’s earnest, idealistic and optimistic religious man Tim Laughlin and Bomer’s charismatic avoider of emotional entanglements Hawkins "Hawk" Fuller, whose behind-the scenes career in politics brings great wealth and stability. Their romance begins just as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn begin their anti-LGBTQ crusade. Hawk denies during interrogation having any relations with a man when questioned, deploying Lucy Smith, played by Allison Williams, essentially as his beard. The story also covers the ensuing 35 years, through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled sexual revolution of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while still facing other issues in the world.

Hawk and Tim’s relationships with each other and others complicate further and grow more tense. Lucy has suspicions that grow further reinforced about his secret side activities, while Tim’s feelings for Hawkins causes internal conflict that tears him apart. Jelani Alladin and Noah J. Ricketts also star. Fellow Travelers streams first on Friday, October 27 on Paramount+ with Showtime, two days before its previously-mentioned linear Sunday, October 29 Showtime premiere at 9/8c.
