'Yellowjackets' Season 3 Not Premiering Until 2025

If you’re a fan of Showtime original series Yellowjackets, you’re probably going to want to emotionally hold onto May’s season 2 finale, because it’s going to be more than a year and a half before you’ll get to see more from this cast. It is being reported that season 3 will not be premiering on what is now Paramount+ with Showtime until 2025.

Due to the talents’ lengthy strikes in their fight to get a fair deal from the studios, pre-production was paused basically from the very start until the writers got their deal and reopened in September. That was enough to push it over the threshold to miss any potential 2024 premiere date.

Yellowjackets is a psychological thriller which premiered on Showtime in November 2021. It was co-created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson that centers around a high school girls soccer team involved in a plane crash in 1996, leaving them stranded in the wilderness for over a year and a half, exploring both the short-term immediate effects and traumas and the long-term picking up about 23 years after they were finally rescued. Each main character  is cast for the eras separated by over 20 years, with Sophie Nélisse and Melanie Lynskey playing Shauna Shipman, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Tawny Cypress as Taissa Turner, Sophie Thatcher and Juliette Lewis as Natalie "Nat" Scatorccio, Samantha Hanratty and Christina Ricci as Misty Quigley, Liv Hewson and Lauren Ambrose as Vanessa “Van” Palmer, and Courtney Eaton and Simone Kessell as Charlotte “Lottie” Matthews.

The show has garnered 7 Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Melanie Lynskey in both seasons, with the competition for season 2 airing Monday night. May’s season 2 finale was titled “Storytelling”. Of course, Yellowjackets isn’t alone in facing such delays. In particular among premium movie channels, HBO dropped a teaser last month that confirmed its shows delayed that far, including The Last of Us, The White Lotus, Euphoria and Max Originals And Just Like That and IT spinoff Welcome To Derry.
