'Landman' Adds 'The Untouchables' Star Andy Garcia, 3 Others

Oh you thought casting news for upcoming Paramount+ series Landman was over? Well there’s still more to cover, with names rather familiar to the Paramount family coming to the Taylor Sheridan-created series. Andy García has been set for a key role, while Mustafa Speaks, Octavio Rodriguez, and J.R. Villarreal are all set to recur. Garcia will play the extremely capable, powerful and practical Galino.  Speaks will play Boss, one of  Tommy Norris’s  more experienced employees, described as “tough-as-nails and “has seen it all”.  Rodriguez  will play Antonio, a hard man riled up after a family tragedy, while Villarreal  will play Manuel, an oil crewman who seeks revenge after a disaster. They join Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, and a cast that includes  Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland , Kayla Wallace, James Jordan, Mark Collie, Paulina Chávez, and Demi Moore , with Jon Hamm and Colm Feore recurring. Garcia most recently starred in the Netflix film Pain Hustlers with C

Paramount Removes 10 Nickelodeon Series off Paramount+ Amid Write-Downs

Well, Paramount strikes again.

If you have not heard, Paramount has removed ten Nickelodeon series from Paramount+, including two Paramount+ originals. The report came from Nickandmore! and has made headlines across Deadline and Collider.

The contents removed were Are You Afraid of the Dark? (2019), Blue’s Clues & You! (2019), It’s Pony, Middlemost Post, Ollie’s Pack, Ryan’s Mystery Playdate, Santiago of the Seas, the recently ended That Girl Lay Lay, Big Nate and Rugrats (2021), with both Big Nate and Rugrats are currently airing on Nicktoons.

We knew this would happen because of Paramount’s write-down announcement last month. But we didn’t know when it would happen and what content would be affected.

According to their 10-K filling, it’s not a great look.

“In connection with our continued review of our international content strategy, during the first quarter of 2024, we made a strategic decision to focus on content with mass global appeal. As part of this, we are rationalizing original content on Paramount+, especially internationally, and improving the efficiency of our linear network programming. As a result, we have reviewed our expansive global content portfolio and are removing select content from our platforms. In addition, we have decided not to move forward with certain titles and therefore are abandoning some development projects and terminating certain programming agreements. Accordingly, we expect to recognize additional programming charges that we currently expect to be in the range of approximately $700 million to $900 million during the first quarter of 2024. As we continue to evaluate our content portfolio, we may incur additional programming charges later in 2024.”

With this quote, we know there could be more content removals in the foreseeable future as Paramount is trying to seek profitability for Paramount+ in the US and a new owner with M&A rumors circulating. I will go more in-depth about their current situation in a future article.

But if you want to know where to watch the affected shows, here’s where you can watch them as of 3/29/2024:

Note: Buy Digital at your own risk. Content may be removed at Paramount's request. If physical media exists for the show, you should preferably buy it over digital.
