The Nurse Jackie sequel series is no longer in development at (Paramount+ with) Showtime . It is now in development at Amazon Prime Video , with original series star Edie Falco still attached. First reported to be in development last May at its original home network before the rebrand alongside a sequel series for Weeds , such a move is possible because the series is, like the original, produced by Lionsgate Television. It still means Showtime’s original programming took a hit in its rebuilding process, its programming strategy under the McCarthy regime losing one IP on the day before it announced its casting for the  Dexter prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin . It is the second Showtime series to move to Amazon in recent years, as the Jeff Daniels-starring series American Rust was revived by Freevee in June 2022, five months after Showtime canceled it.
