‘Evil’ Season 4 Wraps Production Early For Cast Member Tending To Personal Matter, Writers Strike Disruption

Evil, the CBS-turned-Paramount+ original is finishing production on its fourth season sooner than expected. Striking Writers Guild members approached set on Friday for a demonstration, causing disruption. This was followed by a cast member taking a leave of absence for personal reasons.

A source allegedly close to the series only corroborated the unidentified actor’s leave being the reason for the sooner finish. The striking Writers Guild members demonstrated near the production on Friday and no filming occurred. The fourth season of Evil had a ten episode order, it's unknown if this end means a reduction in the number of episodes the season will actually have. Starlee Kine, a writer whose credits include the TBS-turned-HBO Max series Search Party shared a photograph of strikers on Twitter. Kine recounted on Twitter how the picketers impeded the shoot for the series, with production shutting down at about 1 a.m. He also included an image.

As he described “A handful of us walking in a tiny circle cost them the day’s shoot. We were told the producers were pissed. They kept the crew there for hours, sitting on the sidewalk. We felt the solidarity. We’ll win this whole thing together.” Kine then told Variety “The IATSE crew was across the street from us the entire time, not crossing the picket line.” Kine told Variety. They bought them ice cream and opened up song requests. Both parties even sang "Happy Birthday to You" to a crew member whose birthday it was. Another IATSE crew member documented the writers’ picket line and the crew’s production standstill on TikTok.

Evil was renewed for season four during its third season. The psychological supernatural mystery series stars Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Aasif Mandvi, featuring Michael Emerson, Andrea Martin and Christine Lahti. Dr. Kristen Bouchard, played by Herbers is a forensic psychologist who investigates supernatural incidents with Catholic priest David Acosta (Colter) and skeptical technology expert Ben Shakir (Mandvi). It was created by Robert King and Michelle King, who serve as executive producers alongside Liz Glotzer, Rockne S. O’Bannon and Nelson McCormick. It is from CBS Studios in association with the Kings' production company King Size Productions. It is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
