'September 5' Covers Its Streaming Date

Have a few Munich knacks. Paramount announced on Monday morning that Best Original Screenplay Oscar and Critics Choice nominee September 5 is headed to Paramount+ tomorrow, Tuesday February 25 in the United States and Canada. International rollout will, as usual, be revealed at a later date, but it never quite gets the coverage the domestic arrival to the platform does. The film was first given a limited release on December 13, and considering Sony Pictures ’s Saturday Night ’s limited release on September 27 was what brought it to Sony’s typical 120-day window for its films when it landed on Netflix on January 25 despite a wide release on October 11, it’s clearly the best way to gauge speed. And for Paramount’s 2024 slate, it’s actually a pretty slow 74 days, as even Sonic the Hedgehog 3 demonstrated a week ago that everyone else tends to be around 60 days, with a few films going 53. Sonic 3  opened a week later on December 20 and arrived on February 18. September 5 ...

Michelle Randolph and Jacob Lofland have been cast as leads in Paramount+'s upcoming series Land Man starring Billy Bob Thornton.

Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, Land Man is set in the famous boomtowns of West Texas. It is a modern-day tale of fortune-seeking in the oil rig business, an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so monumentally reshaping our climate, economy, and geopolitics. Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for one of the highly competitive oil companies. Randolph and Lofland will play Norris's kids, the wild and strong-willed seventeen-year-old Ainsley, and the new-to-the-industry Tommy, whose age has not been deemed as important as his sister's.

Randolph comes from one of Sheridan’s other Paramount+ original series, the Yellowstone spinoff 1923, where she played her breakout role of Elizabeth Dutton nee Strafford, with only four previous credits to her name. Lofland will be seen in the upcoming Joker: Folie Ă  Deux with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. His most recent roles include the indie 12 Mighty Orphans alongside Luke Wilson and the thriller A House on the Bayou from Blumhouse. Lofland was the lead in the second season of The Son with Pierce Brosnan, which aired on AMC. His other film credits include Aris in Maze Runner: The Death Cure and roles in Mud, Little Accidentsand Free State of Jones.

MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions are the companies producing Land Man. Sheridan, Wallace, Thornton, David Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch all serve as executive producers, as do Scott Brown and Megan Creydt for Texas Monthly, and Peter Feldman is co-executive producer.
