'NCIS: Sydney' Cast Announced

International spinoffs and adaptations are nothing new for TV. Game shows are especially common for this. Some of MTV's formats and RuPaul's Drag Race have some international versions streaming on American Paramount+ right now. All in the Family is just as much one as The Office is. In terms of procedurals, Law & Order, already known for its UK version as it pertains to this discussion, just announced a Canadian version of Criminal Intent. And they aren't the only ones for that franchise In February 2022, it was announced that NCIS would be getting in on the action, with an Australian version, NCIS: Sydney for Network 10 (a well-known major linear Australian channel) and Paramount+.

On Monday, the cast was announced, and there was actually a familiar face to American audiences. Olivia Swann, who played Astra Logue on Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular for its final three seasons (debuting at the end of the fourth) will play NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey. She is joined by co-lead Todd Lasance as Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey, as well as The duo are joined by Sean Sagar of The Covenant and Mea Culpa as NCIS Special Agent DeShawn Jackson; Tuuli Narkle as AFP (Australian Federal Police) Liaison Officer Constable Evie Cooper; Shantaram's Mavournee Hazel as AFP Forensic Scientist Bluebird ‘Blue’ Gleeson and William McInnes as AFP Forensic Pathologist Dr Roy Penrose.

NCIS: Sydney is currently filming on location and is produced by Endemol Shine Australia for CBS Studios and Paramount Australia. It will follow this team of U.S. NCIS Agents and the Australian Federal Police entangled into a multi-national taskforce to keep naval crimes in check in the "most contested patch of ocean on the planet". It is the first iteration of the franchise that will not be first-run on CBS in the United States, dating back to well before NCIS was spun off from JAG, which was rescued from NBC's cancellation after its first season in 1996. NCIS began in 2003.
