'Tulsa King' Spinoff 'NOLA King' With Samuel L. Jackson In The Works

  Saaaaaalutations! If you thought Paramount+ nabbing Sylvester Stallone to star in Tulsa King said something about what television had become, hear this out: Tulsa King has a New Orleans-set spinoff in development, aptly titled NOLA King , and it’s set to star Samuel L. Jackson. Exact details of NOLA King are under wraps, but Jackson’s character,   Russell Lee Washington Jr.,   has been described as similar to Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. The series would be set up by a recurring arc in Tulsa King ’s third season, currently in production in Oklahoma and Atlanta, which explains why Variety ’s  telling didn’t call the single appearance they implied as a backdoor pilot. Jackson is expected to film his episodes in July, with production on NOLA King looking at a February start. ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Renewed For Season 16, ‘All Stars’ For Season 9 With New 'Untucked'


Start your engines, Drag Race fans, because you've got new season destinations. RuPaul’s Drag Race has been renewed for season 16 at MTVRuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars has been renewed for season 9 at Paramount+, and companion show RuPaul's Drag Race: Untucked! has been picked up for a fifteenth season, also on MTV.

The most recent 15th season of Drag Race aired from January to April, and crowned Sasha Colby as America’s Next Drag Superstar. Anetra, Mistress Isabelle Brooks and Luxx Noir London were among runners-up. Colby is the mother of Season 14 standout competitor Kerri Colby.

The eighth and most recent All Stars season, which aired from May to July, featured the first-ever Fame Games competition, another chance for an eliminated queen to still win something. The main winner of the season would be Jimbo, who comes from Canada, while LaLa Ri won the Queen of the Fame Games title.


The Drag Race franchise has nine Primetime Emmy Awards nominations for their most recent seasons. This includes including Outstanding Reality Competition Program, and Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program (for RuPaul). It also racked up nominations for casting, directing, picture editing, production design and sound mixing. Untucked has two of them, for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program and for picture editing in its genre. Drag Race has won 27 of its now 70 nominations.

Casting directors Goloka Bolte and Ethan Peterson have said they’re always looking for “people that are going to step up and fight” for the LGBTQ+ community when casting queens for new seasons. Peterson in particular said “We are in a world where Drag Race [has become] a beacon of hope for a lot of people, and in these scary times for our community, it’s important to put people on the show that are going to fight and be examples to help evoke change.”

As this is just a renewal announcement, there's no premiere date or casting confirmation news to be had for them yet.
