'Happy Face' Brings In The Kids And A Recurring David Harewood

The upcoming Paramount+ drama series Happy Face has found all of its series regulars and jonesed for its recurring talk show host and Melissa’s boss. The final series regulars found are  Khiyla Aynne   and Benjamin Mackey, while Supergirl alum David Harewood is racking in the ratings. As one could surmise, Aynne and Mackey play Melissa (played by Annaleigh Ashford )’s kids with husband Ben, played by James Wolk . Specifically, Aynne  plays Hazel, their  secure and happy  15-year-old daughter who initially believes that her mother is off on a simple business trip. However,  she soon starts suspecting that something dire is going on, beginning to investigate and uncover the shocking circumstances of her mother’s past.  Mackey plays  lively   9-year-old Max, who takes his stable upbringing for granted and doesn’t grow his older sister’s suspicions regarding mom’s sudden absence. He instead steadfastly believes she’s producing some sort of on-location segment for  The Dr. Greg Show . A

'The Daily Show' Introduces Newest Correspondent Grace Kuhlenschmidt

For the second straight week, but this time slightly sooner, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show revealed a new correspondent hire: Grace Kuhlenschmidt.

Kuhlenschmidt’s debut segment came during last Wednesday, October 25’s episode, guest hosted by Desus Nice. Opposite Michael Kosta, they each gave their own takes on the question of whether one should take $500,000 or lunch with Jay-Z. This was after Jay himself chimed in to say that one should take the money. She said that one should “definitely have lunch with Jay-Z” as he “probably” has Beyonce’s phone number.

A stand-up comedian, actress and writer, Kuhlenschmidt recurred in the final season of HBO Max’s Search Party and appeared in the first seasons of Peacock’s Killing It and Showtime’s ZiweShe was recognized as a New Faces: Creators by Just For Laughs Montreal Comedy Festival and wrote for Audible podcast Hot White Heist

Her Daily Show debut came three episodes after that of another correspondent, Troy Iwata, whose debut segment was about book banning. On very little experience, they have a possible chance at the anchor desk. On the week of November 20, in just about three weeks, it’s the News Team Takeover so a guest host from outside the show don’t have to be flown in the week of Thanksgiving. And since they’re now part of the news team, they get to be part of it. The addition of Kuhlenschmidt marks a gross gain of +1, as Roy Wood Jr. left the show after as nearly 8 years as one can before the end of a five month hiatus so that the writers could strike for the fair contract they sought striking against the AMPTP. Charlamagne tha God is halfway through hosting his week, and Sarah Silverman and Leslie Jones guest host in the weeks leading up to the takeover and Michelle Wolf the week after. The new host is expected to take over in 2024.
