'Tulsa King' Spinoff 'NOLA King' With Samuel L. Jackson In The Works

Saaaaaalutations! If you thought Paramount+ nabbing Sylvester Stallone to star in Tulsa King said something about what television had become, hear this out: Tulsa King has a New Orleans-set spinoff in development, aptly titled NOLA King , and it’s set to star Samuel L. Jackson. Exact details of NOLA King are under wraps, but Jackson’s character,   Russell Lee Washington Jr.,   has been described as similar to Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. The series would be set up by a recurring arc in Tulsa King ’s third season, currently in production in Oklahoma and Atlanta, which explains why Variety ’s  telling didn’t call the single appearance they implied as a backdoor pilot. Jackson is expected to film his episodes in July, with production on NOLA King looking at a February start. Dave Erickson will be writing the spin-off after previously taking over showrunner duties on  Tulsa King starting with this new third  season.  He is expected to transition fro...

'The Thundermans Return' Gets March Premiere Date And Super Bowl Trailer

It feels so unlikely that the main CBS broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII will share any of its ads with Nickelodeon’s, and that includes the trailers, even for the family-friendly films. However, even as the reported expectations rolled in, The Thundermans swooped in to save the day.

The first network for kids announced Monday that The Thundermans Return, the new movie reuniting the cast of their 2013-2018 superhero sitcom The Thundermans will premiere on Thursday, March 7 at 7 PM, released on Paramount+ earlier that day, as Thursdays are the streamer’s typical traffic day for original series and movies. Its first trailer will be debuting during Super Bowl LVIII live from Bikini Bottom, the first to be confirmed for the big game, where star Kira Kosarin, who plays Phoebe Thunderman, will seemingly be a correspondent covering all the leadup events.

Back in December, Kosarin and co-star/fellow executive producer Jack Griffo, who plays her twin brother Max Thundermans, took part in Paramount+’s CCXP panel, where they talked about this era of superheroes and their return to the characters. It’s also when the teaser trailer was unveiled. Being only 30 seconds, the meat of it is the family making their entrances and showing up to stop an oncoming meteor strike. The full official poster was released with Monday’s premiere date reveal.

The Thundermans Return also stars Rosa Blasi as mom Barb, and Chris Tallman as dad Hank, Addison Riecke as Nora, Diego Velazquez as Billy, and Maya Le Clark as youngest child Chloe, with Harvey GuillĂ©n returning as Blobbin and Dana Snyder presumably back as Dr. Colosso, as two of probably a good handful of promised returning favorites. The film centers around the superpowered family suffering a setback three years into their time protecting Metroburg. A failed mission has them stripped of that assignment and sent back to Hiddenville. Hank and Barb enjoy their return, with Billy and Nora looking forward to a normal high school experience, and Chloe quickly making friends of her own, but Max and Phoebe are eager to get back their superhero status.

Created and executive produced by Jed Spingarn, the original Thundermans series ranked as the top series across all TV in the Kids 2-11 and 6-11 demographics during its time. Spingarn also writes The Thundermans Return, which is directed by Trevor Kirschner, who previously directed episodes of the series. Both Kosarin and Griffo serve as executive producers alongside Dan Cross and David Hoge, as they are both are at the age where they can take on such roles with their thorough understanding of not only their characters, but others and the show as a whole.
