If there’s one thing Cybertronians know, whether Autobot or Decepticon, it’s survival. And survive Transformers: EarthSpark has, as of Paramount+-born Nicktoons, it and Kamp Koral are the last ones remaining thanks to the removals of the Rugrats revival and Big Nate until August. Season 2 is on its way, and rather imminently at that. The streamer has announced that season 2 will premiere exclusively on the platform on Friday, June 7 in the United States and Canada, and next day, June 8 in the United Kingdom, Australia and Italy. Additional territories will be announced at a later date.
A trailer was also released, the length of a TV spot at 30 seconds. The description reads “In season two, the Emberstone has shattered, and it’s a race against the Decepticons to find all the pieces. Limitless power will be at the fingertips of whoever holds the artifact... Amidst the chaos, Robby meets someone special; Mo uncovers an ancient secret in Witwicky; and the Terrans, the first Earth-born Transformers level up. Together the Malto family and the Autobots see how far they must go to defend all that they love.” The trailer actually shows the Emberstone being stripped from the heroes, failing to protect it from the Decepticons, upping their threat levels for the season.
This comes just over ten months since the July release of season 1’s final 8 episodes, but only weeks after season 1 finished airing linearly from April 6 to 20. And like the first season, episodes will be dropped in batches, with the first 9 coming on those June dates. No word on whether there’s a double-length episode in there to bring it to 10. Season 1 had two in the first batch, the premiere “Secret Legacy” and the end of the batch “Age of Evolution”. Each subsequent batch had a two-part finale: “Home” which was episodes 17 and 18, and the season finale “The Last Hope”, episodes 25 and 26.
Transformers: EarthSpark, the first Paramount-associated Transformers series after what was 15 years of Paramount Pictures-released films at the time the series premiered, stars Sydney Mikayla as Robby Malto, Zion Broadnax as Mo Malto, Benni Latham as mom Dot Malto, Jon Jon Briones as Alex Malto, Dead End: Paranormal Park stars Kathreen Khavari as Twitch and Z Infante as Nightshade, Zeno Robinson as Thrash, Danny Pudi as Bumblebee, Cissy Jones as Elita-1, Diedrich Bader as Mandroid, Cyrus Arnold as Jawbreaker, Stephanie Lemelin as Hashtag, Alan Tudyk as Optimus Prime, and Knuckles’s Rory McCann as Megatron. The season’s guest stars include Lisa Frankenstein director Zelda Williams, whose voiceover credits include as Kuvira on The Legend of Korra and Mona Lisa on Nick’s first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series as Spitfire, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, known as the voice of Donny Thornberry on The Wild Thornberrys as Aftermath, Richard Ayoade as Fairmaestro, and Flea, and "Weird Al" Yankovic, whose song “Dare to Be Stupid” was included in the The Transformers: The Movie soundtrack, tying the Grammy winner to the toy franchise forever, as Cosmos. This will be his first appearance in the franchise in over 15 years, having been the voice of Wreck-Gar on Transformers Animated.
Transformers: EarthSpark is created and co-executive produced by Dale Malinowski and executive produced by Ant Ward who both came from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The series is developed for television by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President of Big Kids Animation, Nickelodeon. Production is overseen for Hasbro Entertainment by Kari Rosenberg and for Nickelodeon by Leslie Wishnevski.
