'Tulsa King' Spinoff 'NOLA King' With Samuel L. Jackson In The Works

Saaaaaalutations! If you thought Paramount+ nabbing Sylvester Stallone to star in Tulsa King said something about what television had become, hear this out: Tulsa King has a New Orleans-set spinoff in development, aptly titled NOLA King , and it’s set to star Samuel L. Jackson. Exact details of NOLA King are under wraps, but Jackson’s character,   Russell Lee Washington Jr.,   has been described as similar to Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi. The series would be set up by a recurring arc in Tulsa King ’s third season, currently in production in Oklahoma and Atlanta, which explains why Variety ’s  telling didn’t call the single appearance they implied as a backdoor pilot. Damon Wayans Jr. Revealed As 'Raid The Cage' Host

It’s gonna be at least until later in the season before Damon Wayans Jr. gets back on CBS in a scripted capacity, but in the meantime he’s still getting on the fall schedule by hosting the new game show Raid the Cage, premiering on Friday, October 13 at 9PM.

He’s not alone, as he’s got a co-host in former The Real cohost Jeannie Mai-Jenkins. Wayans, Jr. is best known for his roles as Brad on the ABC sitcom Happy Endings and Coach on Fox’s New Girl, last had a CBS show from 2018 until 2019, the single-season sitcom Happy Together. His upcoming show for the network is Poppa’s House, a sitcom where he stars alongside his father, Damon Wayans, Sr. It was already pegged for midseason at the earliest fall schedule CBS revealed in May, before they had to start bringing in backups without series ready while the strikes were going on. Mai-Jenkins is currently the host of America’s Test Kitchen: The Next Generation and hosted this year’s Miss Universe. She’s also been sideline reporter for Holey Moley, which has been in limbo still as of late June.

Raid The Cage is based on an Israeli format featuring a two teams of two competing to quickly retrieve prizes from the Cage before their time elapses and the doors shut. Succeeding at trivia adds time for subsequent prize runs in the Cage. After three rounds, the team who has the highest total dollar value in prizes wins, securing what they’ve so far for keeps and go into the final round to Beat the Cage for even more lavish prizes including a car. Versions for 14 other countries have also already been produced.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Game Show division, Jack Martin serves as executive producer and showrunner. Ves D’Elia and Heath Luman are co-executive producers. The series’s original Israeli iteration ran for four seasons on Channel 2, aka Reshet and is distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television’s international sales arm.

Like all in-season CBS shows, it will stream live and on demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs.
