Zoey Chases High School Memories In First 'Zoey 102' Trailer'; Get Premiere Date

Oooh! I know you see the summer's here, so of course, wedding season has arrived. Paramount+ has released the first trailer for its Zoey 101 sequel movie, still inexplicably called Zoey 102, and revealed it will premiere on July 27.

Jamie Lynn Spears is back as Pacific Coast Academy alum Zoey Brooks, as she's proposed to on a second date, and as she's venting about it to one of her best friends, Quinn Pensky (played by the also-returning Erin Sanders). It's then that she's asked to be her maid of honor, as indeed, Quinn and Logan (Matthew Underwood) are engaged. Of course they've invited Chase (Sean Flynn), a best friend of Logan whose relationship with Zoey was a focal point of the original series. Stacey Dillsen (Abby Wilde) believed Zoey is still so hung up on him that she hasn't had a romance since. Zoey hires Todd, an actor, to play her boyfriend, taking the name Hugo Hemsworth for the occasion. Chase is still as distracted by Zoey as ever, even with his own date by his side again. Wedding chaos and high school hangups ensue.

Announced in January, the film also features original stars Christopher Massey as Michael Barrett, and Jack Salvatore as Mark Del Figgalo. Paul Butcher's Dustin Brooks, Victoria Justice's Lola Martinez, and Austin Butler's James Garrett are not returning. Neither is Kristin Herrera's Dana, but she has revealed that filming was too soon after the birth of her son to leave him for the film, but she would've been up for it otherwise. Alexa Nikolas has been very open as to why she wouldn't return as Nicole Bristow, long before the sequel movie was a thing. New characters include Thomas Lennon as Zoey’s boss Kelly Kevyn, and Owen Thiele as Zoey’s friend Archer March.

Zoey 101 was created by Dan Schneider as a vehicle for Spears off of her two seasons on the sketch comedy series All That. and ran for four seasons and 61 episodes on Nickelodeon from 2005-2008. Zoey 102 is the culmination of several smaller reunion occasions for the show's stars over the past decade. It is directed by Nancy Hower, while Monica Sheer and Madeline Whitby wrote the script. They serve as executive producers alongside Spears and Alexis Fisher. Nickelodeon has never been afraid of a good nostalgia push, and with Paramount+, as far as live-action productions have revived iCarlyreleased a feature film based on their Blue's Clues revival, and are set to release a Good Burger sequel this Thanksgiving and The Thundermans Return later this year. The trailer can be watched below. Zoey 102 premieres July 27.
